Rosehill Gardens Preview – Wednesday 14th October

Rosehill Gardens Preview – Wednesday 14th October

Midweek metro racing takes up to Rosehill Gardens on Wednesday, October 14th and our Rosehill Preview takes a close look at all eight races making up the program as we count down to Sydney’s The Everest Day on Saturday.

The rail will be set out 4 metres around the entire course and while we’re faced with a track rated in the Good (4) range at publish, plenty of rain is forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, and downgrades are expected.

With that in mind, read on for my complete Rosehill and best bets.

Inglis Xtra Bonus Plate (1200m)
No. 8 Affari

AFFARI (1) has been knocking on the door and gets another great chance to win this week.

In four runs back this time, the daughter of Home Affairs has incredibly finished the runner up on all four occasions.

In peak order this week and with options in the run from the rails draw under James McDonald, this is her chance to win.

Asahi Super Dry Handicap (1400m)
No. 14 Snitzel’s Girl

SNITZEL’S GIRL (3) rates as a key winning chance in an open Race 2 at Rosehill on Wednesday.

Snitzel’s Girl has shown ability in three appearances since debuting; finishing on the placegetters’ heels in races at Canterbury and here at Rosehill since resuming.

Fitter third-up this week, down in the weights under Zac Lloyd, she looks to get plenty of ticks.

MyRacehorse Handicap (1100m)
No. 6 Born To Fly

There isn’t a lot of form to study ahead of the third at Rosehill this week and I’m eager to side with a filly on debut – BORN TO FLY (11.

By I Am Invincible and out of Rough Ride, Born To Fly has shown plenty of ability in five public trials, winning three and finishing the runner up in the other two.

Zac Lloyd rides, and the filly certainly looks forward enough to win on debut.

Jacquinot First Crop 2YO’s Handicap (1100m)
No. 12 Moscatel

MOSCATEL (8) has winning claims first up from a spell this week.

We haven’t seen Moscatel at the races since May, but after winning in dominant fashion on debut at Randwick-Kensington, she subsequently finished midfield in the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Scone.

With the benefit of a couple of trials under her belt, Rachel King picks up the ride and any improvement in strength and conditions from her last prep would see her well placed in something like this.

Racing And Sports Handicap (2400m)
No. 3 Grafton Street

GRAFTON STREET (1) takes winning form into another nice race at Rosehill this week.

The Wootton Bassett gelding hasn’t missed placing in four starts since debuting and returned to winning form with an eye-catching performance over 2140m at Warwick Farm last month.

In peak order now, getting out to the mile and a half suits, while Rachel King retains the ride from a good barrier.

Ranvet Handicap (1500m)
No. 6 Puntin

Another winning chance for the Bjorn Baker stable at Rosehill on Wednesday is PUNTIN (5) in Race 6.

Puntin has raced in consistent form in recent months and after a couple of near misses in Saturday metro company, he was sent to the country at his latest start to record an easy win in a Dubbo Gold Cup.

In peak order, this is a great opportunity for him to return to metro company.

Farnan @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1200m)
No. 4 Metallic Cat
Tip of The Day

METALLIC CAT (4) looks very hard to beat in the penultimate race at Rosehill.

Metallic Cat has hardly put a hoof wrong since debuting, and she returned to action with a nice performance to only just miss behind West Of Darly here a couple of weeks ago.

With natural improvement, she’s unbeaten at this point of her preparation and is my best bet of the day.

TAB Handicap (1400m)
No. 15 Pulsator

Pulsator puts an unbeaten record on the line in the last at Rosehill this week.

After stamping herself as one to follow with a dominant performance to win easily on debut at Kembla Grange last month, Pulsator franked that when saluting again in Class 1 company at the same track.

From a good draw and with plenty of upside, she can certainly go on with it in a race of this quality.
