The Five Diamonds odds have Declichy Boulevard favoured at $4.20 in a field of 13.

We’re backing DECLICHY BOULEVARD (5) to win The Five Diamonds, and she comes in off a win in the lead-up.

The Chris Waller-trained mare settled well back and ran down Linebacker by a long-neck in the Five Diamonds Prelude at Randwick over 1500m last start. That made up for her Epsom, where she was 12th with 50kg.

She goes from 54kg to 56kg, but the extra 300m should suit her, and Tommy Berry rides from barrier 5. She’s a deserved favourite at $4.20.

LINEBACKER (7) was the one chasing her home in the Prelude, and he gets a weight swing his way.

He carried 59.5kg that day and drops to 59kg. Before the Prelude, he was third in the Alan Brown Stakes here, a length behind Formal Display.

The John O’Shea and Tom Charlton-trained runner has eased from $4.80 to $6, and Zac Lloyd stays on. We like him more at the longer price.

BRINDAVAN (8) heads down from Queensland in form, with a 2.5-length win in a handicap at Eagle Farm over 1600m on October 24.

The Tony Gollan-trained runner was second by a nose at Eagle Farm the start before that, and the market has come for Brindavan, firming from $16 to $12.

Ben Thompson rides from barrier 8, and Brindavan is worth including in Five Diamonds tips.
