Albury trainer Kym Davison celebrated her maiden city win with her progressive The Autumn Sun gelding Autumn Break ($8) showing plenty of fight to narrowly deny Kilman victory in the 2026 ATC Carbine Club Stakes results at Randwick. The ATC Carbine Club Stakes is a Group 3 mile race for three-year-olds held at Randwick Racecourse in early April on Day 1 of ‘The Championships’.
Not be confused with the VRC Carbine Club Stakes held in the spring, the event runs alongside a bumper autumn racing line-up in Sydney including the Doncaster Mile and TJ Smith Stakes.
Run at set weights plus penalties, it offers $250,000 in prize money and was first conducted in 1981 but did not gain Group 3 status until 2011.
The race is named in honour of former champion thoroughbred from the 19th century Carbine whose victories included the 1890 Melbourne Cup and back-to-back wins in the Sydney Cup (1889-1890).
