The 2023-24 La Liga season – officially known as LALIGA EA SPORTS for sponsorship purposes – ran from August 11, 2023 – May 26, 2024 with Real Madrid securing their 36th title.
The La Liga, also known as the Primera Division, is the top flight of men’s football (soccer) in the Spanish football league system.
Founded in 1929, La Liga is considered to be one of the toughest and most talented leagues in the world, comprising of two of the world’s top clubs in Barcelona and Real Madrid with the latter winning La Liga a record 35 times to date!
Real Madrid are the most recent La Liga soccer competition winners, having won the 2023–24 edition on 4 May 2024 with four matches to spare following the previous season’s champions, Barcelona, defeating Girona 4–2. The victory was Real Madrid’s record-extending 36th title.
Currently contested between 20 teams, La Liga draws huge interest not only from football fans, but punters alike. Names like Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are considered among the top international talents, and although Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to dominate, the market still remains wide open with each team gunning for the championship.

The relegated teams after the season’s end that will not feature in the 2024-25 competition are: Cádiz, Almería, and Granada.
