Magic Millions Cup

Ladbrokes Tip: Queensland horses have a poor recent record in the Gold Coast Magic Millions Cup

The Gold Coast Magic Millions Cup 2026 ran at the Gold Coast on Saturday, January 17, 2026 offering a lucrative $2 million and was won in style by the progressive Peter Snowden trained Capitalist four-year-old King Of Roseau ($10).

2026 Magic Millions Cup Results

The official Magic Millions Cup 2026 results and finishing order will be known on Saturday, January 17, 2026 and published below.

  1. #8 King Of Roseau
  2. #19 Boomtown Boss
  3. #14 Moravia

King Of Roseau ($10) proved he’s one of the most honest sprinters in the business, outstaying a high-class field to secure the 2026 Magic Millions Cup. Punters who jumped on the double-figure quote were rewarded with a tenacious display as the Peter Snowden-trained gelding dug deep to fend off Boomtown Boss in a frantic finish. Jockey Tom Sherry showed ice-cool nerves, timing his run to perfection to catch the bold front-runner Moravia before holding all challengers at bay. With more than $2 million now in the bank from a modest $95,000 purchase price, King Of Roseau is the ultimate success story for his syndicate of owners—and a fitting tribute to his sire, the 2016 champion Capitalist.

The Magic Millions Cup is a $2 million race held as part of the $12.5 million Gold Coast Magic Millions Race Day in mid-January each Queensland Summer Racing Carnival.

The meeting hosts ten races in 2026 open only to Magic Millions Sales graduates including the $3 million Magic Millions Classic and $3 million Magic Millions Guineas.

Other events on the program include the Magic Millions Subzero (Trophy), Magic Millions Snippets (Sprint), Magic Millions Fillies & Mares, and the Magic Millions The Debut Plate which was split into two divisions for the separate genders in 2024 before returning to a single mixed event in 2025.

The Gold Coast Magic Millions Cup is a Restricted Listed event offering the winner $1,139,200 in prize money and is run under quality handicap conditions over 1400m.

The maximum handicap is 61kg and minimum is 54kg, while the field capacity is 16 horses plus five emergencies that all came via a Magic Millions Catalogue.

Horses come into the Magic Millions Cup field via earlier summer races including the Group 2 $2 million The Ingham Stakes (1600m) – formerly the Villiers Stakes – in Sydney or the Group 3 George Moore Stakes (1200m) in Brisbane.

Many runners will have had a start in either the Magic Millions Cup or another Magic Millions race in previous years. For example, in 2020 Vega One defeated the previous year’s champion Redouble with the 2019 runner-up Sambro finishing third.

The 2021 Magic Millions Cup winner Eleven Eleven meanwhile made it back-to-back Magic Millions Day wins having been awarded the 2020 Guineas after the subsequent disqualification of Alligator Blood.

The next year in 2022 Eleven Eleven made history with yet another Magic Millions Day victory to become the first two-time Magic Millions Cup winner.

The Magic Millions Cup 2025 form was franked with the runner-up Charm Stone travelling to Adelaide to win the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes at her next start. She would also race in Melbourne that spring and claim victory in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Magic Millions Cup Betting

Magic Millions Cup betting often opens before the official field is announced with all-in prices offered on the potential runners in the Restricted Listed Magic Millions Race Day event.

Horses that have run in previous editions of the race or contested another event like the Magic Millions Guineas during their three-year-old season often feature high up the Magic Millions Cup odds. In 2021 the previous year’s Magic Millions Guineas winner Eleven Eleven won the Magic Millions Cup before going back-to-back in the latter in 2022.

Previous Gold Coast race experience, being Group 1 performed, proven Group winners and gallopers from the top interstate stables are also the major players in the Magic Millions Cup betting markets each summer.

There was a notable upset in 2023 with Vinco winning at Magic Millions Cup odds of 20/1.

Vega One ($3.30 in 2020) was the last favourite in Magic Millions Cup betting to win.

There was another upset Magic Millions Cup result in 2024 with Semana winning at $14 odds, again in 2025 with West Of Africa ($15) denying the beaten favourite Charm Stone, and once more in 2026 with $10 pop King Of Roseau.

Magic Millions Cup Field

The Gold Coast Magic Millions Cup race field attracts a quality line-up of graduates out of the Magic Millions sales and many have had a previous run at the Magic Millions mid-January race day.

Horses from both Queensland stables and interstate training operations take to the Magic Millions Gold Coast Cup field each summer and could even be resuming in the $2 million feature.

Good lead-up races for horses into the Magic Millions Cup field include Wyong’s Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes (1200m) from December and Sydney’s Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) – now run as the $2 million The Ingham.

Eleven Eleven (2021) was the last horse to win the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes – Gold Coast Magic Millions Cup double.

Eleven Eleven also became the first dual Magic Millions Cup champion when defending his title in 2022.

Semana (2nd in 2024) and King Of Roseau (2nd in 2026) are the latest Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes graduates to back-up and win the Gold Coast’s Magic Millions Cup

Queensland Racing take the early Magic Millions Cup nominations in early January with the final field and barriers out on the Wednesday before race day.

Magic Millions Cup Form Guide

The Magic Millions Gold Coast Cup form guide gives you all the information you need to place a successful bet on the race including the saddlecloth numbers and starting barriers of the runners, as well as the jockeys and trainers for all horses in the field.

Doing the Magic Millions Cup form is important before enjoying a punt on the race and means looking out for runners with a good Gold Coast track record, those with winning form around the distance (1400m), horses dropping in weight from their last start and in-form summer gallopers.

The Magic Millions Cup form from 2022 was franked with the winner Eleven Eleven finishing third that winter in Brisbane’s Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) behind the Magic Millions Cup third placed Apache Chase.

The 2024 Magic Millions Cup winner Semana franked the form going on to run top three in a host of subsequent Group 1 races that year including the Coolmore Classic (2nd), Queen Of The Turf (3rd), and Brisbane’s Tatt’s Tiara (2nd).
