Pinjarra Cup Field
The Pinjarra Cup field attracts a line-up of mainly local, WA-trained stayers but there have been some interstate raiders in recent years making the trip east over the autumn.
Horses may come into the Pinjarra Cup field via lead-up races including the Listed Bunbury Cup (2000m) and the Listed South West Cup (2219m) also held at Bunbury Racecourse.
Ascot’s Diggers Cup (1800m) at the end of April often attracts a number of graduates dropping back in distance off a run in the Pinjarra Cup field, as does the Western Australia Cup (3200m) over the two-miles for the more dour stayers looking for more distance.
In 2020 Spiritual Warrior completed the South West Cup – Pinjarra Cup – Western Australian Cup treble.
Pinjarra Cup nominations close the Tuesday before the race runs on the Sunday with the final field and barriers released on the Thursday.

Pinjarra Cup Form Guide
The Pinjarra Cup form guide reveals all the key race information and statistics including jockeys, trainers, weights, barriers and the lead-up form of all the runners in the field.
The Pinjarra Cup form has gone on to hold in similar grade races including the Geraldton Gold Cup (2100m) many times over the years. In 2021 the Pinjarra Cup winner Divine Shadow ran a next-up third in that year’s Geraldton Gold Cup results just seven days later.
Pinjarra Cup horses may be looking to frank the earlier form of the Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) run at Ascot at the start of January.

Pinjarra Cup Tips
Pinjarra Cup tips favour local stayers with a proven record over the distance that are well-weighted.
Horses that contested previous editions of the race make a good Pinjarra Cup tip as plenty of runners take to the race on successive years. For example, the 2019 Pinjarra Cup winner He’s A Parker returned for a third in the event in 2020.
2022 Pinjarra Cup Tips
Our Ladbrokes’ exclusive Pinjarra Cup 2022 best bets will be detailed below before the race takes place on the first Sunday in April so bookmark this page for the stayers to back and sack this autumn.
- To Win: #3 Utgard Loki ($3.20 at time of publish)
Really hard to tip against this year’s Pinjarra Cup favourite. He was the punters’ pick last time out when on-speed before posting a nice win at this track and distance defeating True Attraction with 54kg in the South West Cup. Goes up two kilos on that, but has a lovely record and is in the right vein of form to salute again.
