Barry Campbell’s ultra-consistent Stratosphere filly, Sanniya ($1.50F), saluted for the punters producing a dominant display as her odds-on price suggested she would in the 2026 Vamos Stakes results. The second filly in as many years to complete the Mystic Journey Stakes / Vamos Stakes double, the progressive three-year-old was rated perfectly by jockey Craig Newitt who took her to the lead early from the wide draw and she held her front-running position all the way to the line. Brilliant late, she raced away on the home straight to deny Grid Girl by 1.75 lengths and take her record up to seven wins from eight starts.

The Vamos Stakes is a 1400m weight-for-age race for fillies and mares run on Ladbrokes Launceston Cup Day at Launceston Racecourse on a Wednesday in late February over the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival.
Racing at the meeting is headlined by the Group 3 $250,000 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup (2400m) with the Group 3 Vamos Stakes the key support act on the card.
Offering $150,000 in prize money, the event was first run in 2007 and has held Group 3 status since 2014.
Many of the female gallopers out of the Vamos Stakes may head to Adelaide to target the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) later that year in May.

Vamos Stakes Betting
Vamos Stakes betting markets traditionally open after the field is announced on the Friday prior to the event running at Launceston Racecourse during the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival.

The Vamos Stakes race field attracts a quality line-up of fillies and mares each summer/autumn racing season, many of which may have had a lead-up run in Hobart’s Group 3 Bow Mistress Trophy (1200m) – now Mystic Journey Stakes – a fortnight earlier.
Stuart Gandy’s three-year-old filly Geegees Mistruth (2025) followed by the Barry Campbell-trained Sanniya (2026) are the latest female gallopers to complete the Mystic Journey Stakes – Vamos Stakes double in the same year.
Other recent Vamos Stakes winners to come off a run in the Mystic Journey Stakes include Take The Sit (8th in 2022) and Megamea (3rd in 2024).
Another potential lead-up is Launceston’s Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Classic held at the same track / distance the Saturday prior and in 2020 Deroche won both races three days apart as the odds-on favourite in each.
Many Vamos Stakes hopefuls have contested previous editions of the race.
