The BRC Sprint is a Group 3 quality handicap event runs at Doomben Racecourse on a Saturday in May during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival on Doomben Cup Day.
The COVID-19 pandemic saw a number of big changes to the 2020 Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival including the BRC Sprint running over 1200mm instead of the traditional 1350m.
Offering $175,000 in total prize money as of 2021, the race serves as a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm.
Tyzone (2019) won the BRC Sprint before a Stradbroke second and then improved on an unplaced BRC Sprint run the following year before winning the 2020 Stradbroke Handicap.
The latest edition of the BRC Sprint ran on Saturday the 22nd of May, 2021 and was won in an upset by local hope Emerald Kingdom.
