  • 3rd: No. 7 The Inflictor

Tony Gollan’s in-form son of Snitzel, Transatlantic ($2.20F), was far too strong dominating the 2025 Five Diamonds Prelude results at Randwick with a dominant performance to make it back-to-back feature race wins following his Group 1 Toorak Handicap victory in Melbourne the run before. Jockey Tommy Berry controlled the race beautifully, upping the tempo ahead of the turn for home before cruising to the line to finish 2.25 lengths clear of the runner-up General Salute.

Each Way: No. 10 Saltcoats

Tony Gollan’s last start Toorak champ TRANSATLANTIC (3) looks a hard to beat favourite but trying to uncover the value in the Five Diamonds Prelude and SALTCOATS (9) from the Waller stable appeals as an Each Way play on the last in Sydney. This Kiwi bred five-year-old is flying having won two of his last three and looks to have enough class to challenge at a nice price. At his latest he won the Wyong Gold Cup in early September with 56kg and has been kept fresh for this assignment. Query is coming back from 2100m to 1500m but the space between runs helps and he looks well placed at Set Weights + Penalties. Wider alley but he’ll be taken back from the gate by Chad Schofield and should be charging late especially if they go hard out early stages.
