The A.D. Hollindale Stakes is a Group 2 race held at the Gold Coast Racecourse during the early stages of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival on a Saturday at the start of May. The feature event at the meeting, the A.D. Hollindale Stakes is run over 1400m under weight-for-age conditions and now offers a generous $500,000 in prize money as of 2021.
Also run on A.D. Hollindale Stakes Day are the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) for three-year-olds and the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial (1200m) for two-year-olds. A lead-up to tougher races at Doomben and Eagle Farm during the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, the A.D. There was no 2020 AD Hollindale Stakes with the event cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest edition of the AD Hollindale Stakes ran on Saturday May 8, 2021 and was won by the favourite Zaaki.

Hollindale Stakes Odds & Betting
AD Hollindale Stakes betting markets are usually dominated by interstate-trained raiders coming off good lead-up runs in tougher and or similar class races in Sydney earlier in the autumn.
Gallopers with proven form at the distance and further sit high up the Hollindale Stakes odds and the markets often favour runners dropping back in class out of a lead-up like the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) in Sydney over more distance during April’s ‘The Championships’ or the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) also held at Royal Randwick. The Doncaster Mile – AD Hollindale Stakes double was recently achieved by It’s Somewhat (2017).
Favourites in AD Hollindale Stakes betting only have a fair recent record in the event however, but the winner will be at a firming price in markets for the upcoming Doomben Cup in Brisbane two weeks on.
Zaaki ($3.60 in 2021) was the last AD Hollindale Stakes betting favourite to get the job done.

AD Hollindale Stakes Tips
AD Hollindale Stakes tips include looking for horses proven at around 2000m and those with good lead-up form in Sydney. Previous experience at the Gold Coast track isn’t crucial, so instead of tipping a local runner look at interstate raiders heading towards the Brisbane Winter Carnival features.

- To Win: #6 Shared Ambition ($9.50 at time of publish)
Lots of stars, plenty of form lines, a capacity line-up and Group 1 racing in Brisbane just around the corner! This should be a wonderful edition of the Hollindale and think there’s value to be had tipping another win from the Waller stable. He took it out in 2019 with Life Less Ordinary before last year’s race was shelved due to COVID. Back with a strong hand and the nearly double-figures offered on consistent five-year-old Shared Ambition looks generous. First run at the Gold Coast, but last start produced a big Group 3 Neville Sellwood win in Sydney. The Australian Cup 11th in Melbourne was better than it looks on paper, he wasn’t even three lengths beaten. Fresh over the 1800m here from a good gate with Jim Byrne aboard, he can surprise a few.
