- To Win: #10 Regal Lion ($4.20 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Tipping back-to-back Ipswich Cup wins by Regal Lion who looks well-weighted and well-positioned to become the event’s first dual champ since Our Lukas (2009-10). This Annabel Neasham-trained, Kiwi-bred galloper carried 54kg to a narrow win her last winter and is now out to break a year-long drought not having won again since. He is in on a lesser weight now (53.5kg) and should relish a drop back to the 2150m after a last start eighth over the mile and a half in a Brisbane Group 3. Prior to that he was racing well in easier company including an Albury Cup second and nice fourth behind Spirit Ridge not far beaten in Doomben’s Group 3 Chairman’s Handicap. Proven here and looks right to his liking again. Can win.
