Ladies’ Day Vase 2021

Wednesday October 13, 2021

Ladbrokes Tip: The Ladies’ Day Vase serves as a potential lead-up into the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes.

The Ladies’ Day Vase is a 1600m mile race for older mares held at Caulfield Racecourse on a Wednesday in mid-October as part of Thousand Guineas Day.

The mid-week meeting runs the Wednesday before Caulfield Cup Day and was previously host to just three Group 3 races with the Coongy Cup for Caulfield Cup types, Blue Sapphire Stakes and the Ladies’ Day Vase.

In 2021 however the meeting grew in popularity with the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) moved from the Saturday prior to headline the action.

The Ladies’ Day Vase offers $200,000 and is run at set weights plus penalties.

It serves as a potential lead-up to Flemington’s Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.

Run and won since 1994 and gained its current Group 3 status in 2013.

This season the 2021 Ladies’ Day Vase ran on Wednesday October 13, 2021 and was won by the favourite Sirileo Miss.

  • To Win: #6 Harmony Rose ($6 at time of publish)

Big drop in grade for Harmony Rose who is looking for a return to confidence here. She hasn’t won since February, but the classy grey is a dual Group 1 placegetter since. Third-up and fit here. Wasn’t far beaten fresh in the Bill Ritchie before nothing went right from a very wide gate in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap last time out. At her best, she can easily beat this field.
