Mannerism Stakes 2024

Ladbrokes Tip: The Mannerism Stakes serves as a potential lead-up into Sydney’s Group 1 Coolmore Classic in the autumn.

The Mannerism Stakes is a Group 3 race for mares run and won at Caulfield Racecourse* in late February on Blue Diamond Stakes Day.

*Note: The 2023 Mannerism Stakes and entire Blue Diamond Stakes race card took place at Sandown with renovations happening at Caulfield.

The set weights plus penalties clash takes place over 1400m and offers $200,000 in prize money.

Blue Diamond Stakes Day features a trio of Group 1 races headlined by the Blue Diamond Stakes for two-year-olds.

A key support act on the card, the Mannerism Stakes was first run in 1988 and has held Group 3 status since 1993.

It is named in honour of the 1991 Australasian Oaks winner and 1992 Caulfield Cup champion mare Mannerism.

Some of the better mares out of the event may head up to Sydney for a shot at the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) run at Rosehill two weeks later.

Espiona (2023) was the last mare to complete the Mannerism Stakes – Coolmore Classic double.

The latest edition of the Mannerism Stakes took place on Saturday February 24, 2024 as part of the bumper Blue Diamond Stakes Day at Caulfield and saw the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Revolutionary Miss ($5.50) post a dominant win in the last.

Backing mares drawn in single-digit barriers is also a good Mannerism Stakes betting tip as just one winner since 2011 has jumped from wider than gate eight.

Four-year-old mares have dominated the race and the only Mannerism Stakes winner older than five since 2000 was Jamaican Rain (2019).

Espiona (2023) and Revolutionary Miss (2024) are the latest four-year-old Mannerism Stakes winners.

    • To Win: #4 Vagrant ($6.50 at time of publish) – BET NOW

Looking outside the favourite and have the airborne Vagrant on top to keep the wins going. Hard to knock a mare in this rich a vein of form. Mitchell Freedman’s four-year-old daughter of Pariah has won her past three on the trot including the Group 3 Geoffrey Bellmaine here over 1200m at the start of the month. Kept fresh since, up to 1400m now and she’s well-proven at the distance. Can win.

    Mannerism Stakes Form Guide

The Mannerism Stakes form guide lists all the important facts and stats on the runners in the event including jockeys, trainers, barriers, weights, track/distance records and win/place rates.

Silent Sedition also returned to win the Mannerism Stakes in 2018 and finish third in that year’s Coolmore Classic results.

The 2023 Mannerism winner Espiona franked the form winning the Coolmore Classic next start. She also returned for a big spring campaign that year headlined by her victory in the $2 million The Invitation race.
