The Winx Guineas is held at the tail-end of the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival the Saturday after Brisbane’s Tattersall’s Tiara Day and takes place at the Corbould Park Racecourse at Caloundra in late June or early July.

A set weights race for three-year-olds contested over 1600m, the event was first run in 2000 and gained its current Group 3 status in 2014.

The Winx Guineas currently offers a total of $300,000 in prize money and attracts a strong line-up of winter three-year-olds each year. It takes place on the same day as the Listed Caloundra Cup (2400m) and was renamed in 2020 to honour the 2015 champion Winx who went on to win her next 32 straight races.

A good lead-up race is the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) now held in May.

The rescheduled edition of the Winx Guineas ran on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at the Sunshine Coast on Caloundra Cup Day and saw the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Zoustar gelding Xidaki ($3.50) come from behind to post a narrow win in the wet.

Peter & Paul Snowden’s progressive young wet-tracker, Xidaki ($3.50), led an all-Zoustar quinella in the 2024 Winx Guineas results when making up all the ground from the back on Heavy going under the guidance of Vlad Duric to narrowly beat home the Danny O’Brien-trained Miss Aria in a final stride thriller at the Sunshine Coast.
