2015 The Ashes Second Test Preview

The Ashes got off to a surprising start last weekend when England scored an upset victory over Australian in the opening test and the home teams win means that there is plenty of interest heading into the second test at Lords tomorrow evening.

Australia have finally dropped Shane Watson after he failed to fire at Cardiff and Mitchell Marsh has been called back into the team, while Brad Haddin has pulled out of the test due to personal reasons and Peter Neville is set to make his test debut.

Can Australia bounce back to level the series at a game apiece or can England take a two game to nothing victory?

Australia vs England Head To Head Betting

Australia may have lost the first test, but they remain favourites to take out the second test at Lords tomorrow night and they are currently available at a quote of $2.38 to even the series.

England produced an impressive effort with both the bat and the ball in the opening test, but they have not been particularly consistent in recent years and punters are unsure whether they can claim back-to-back wins at a quote of $3.50.

A draw looks unlikely in this Test Series unless there is wet weather and the weather forecast looks fairly clearly, which means that the $3.50 on offer does not represent a great deal of value.

The Ashes Second Test Man Of The Match

Joe Root claimed the Man Of The Match Award in the first test and he is currently a narrow favourite in our Man Of The Match betting market at a quote of $10.

Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Steve Smith and James Anderson are all available at a quote of $11, while $13 is on offer for Mitchell Johnson, Moeen Ali, Josh Hazlewood and Stuart Broad.

Steve Smith failed to fire in the opening test, but he is currently the best batsmen in the world and he should be able to bounce back at Lords – making him a good bet at $11.

Stuart Broad troubled the Aussie batsmen in the opening test and he is the Englishmen most likely to finish the game as Man Of The Match, which makes him a fair bet at his current odds of $13.

Recommended Bets: Back Steve Smith ($11) and Stuart Broad ($13) to be named man of the match

Top Australian Batsman

Steve Smith is a deserving favourite in the Top Australian batsman betting market, but Chris Rogers may be the value selection in this betting market at his current odds of $5.

Rogers was the only Australian batsmen that fired in the opening test, he is a consistent performer in England and he seems to have a better handle of the English swing bowling.

Recommended Bet: Back Chris Rogers ($5.50) to be Australia’s top batsman

Top England Batsman

Joe Root was the star performer in the opening test and he is clear favourite at a quote of $3.50 in our Top England Batsman betting market.

Ian Bell failed to fire in the first innings in the opening test, but he was the equal top-scorer in the second innings and we expect him to kick on in the second test.

At $5 he is outstanding value to finish as the Top England Batsman in the first innings, while wicketkeeper Jos Buttler could be the value selection at $13 if the Australian bowlers are able to fire.

Recommended Bet: Back Ian Bell ($5.50) to be Australia’s top batsman

Innings Of Winnings

The Innings Of Winnings is back for the second test and punters that took our inflated odds of $17 on offer for Joe Root to top score for England in the first innings and England to win walked away from the first test very.

David Warner top scores for Australia in 1st Innings and Australia wins: $10

Joe Root top scores for England in 1st Innings and England wins: $11
