Australia have already lost the Ashes after their woeful batting performance in the fourth test at Trent Bridge, but there is still plenty to play for in the fifth test that will spell the end of the test careers of both captain Michael Clarke and opener Chris Rogers.
England completely humiliated the Australian batting line-up by skittling them for 60 in the first innings and the Australian bowlers were little better.
The devastating loss as well as poor personal form led to Clarke electing to call an end to his test career and Rogers followed shortly afterwards, while the rest of the team outside of the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner could be playing for their futures in the fifth test at The Oval.
Can Australian send Clarke and Rogers out a winner or will England continue their dominance of this series?
Australia vs England Head To Head Betting
Australia produced one of the worst performances in the history of test cricket in the fourth test, but amazingly are only just behind England in the betting market for this match at a quote of $2.50.
This is a tricky game to analyse because the Australian side still have plenty to play for because you know that they would like to send Clarke out a winner, but it is very tough to have any faith in them after their woeful performances in the past two tests.
All the criticism of Australia means that the performances of England, especially with the ball, have been underrated in the past two test matches and their bowlers are sure to enjoy what will again be swing-bowling friendly conditions in the fifth and final test.
England looks like an absolute luxury at their current quote of $2.30 and they are a great bet to finish the series with another test match win.
The Ashes Fifth Test Man Of The Match
Joe Root has had an outstanding series and he is currently a clear favourite in our fifth test betting market at a quote of $9.
Steve Smith is the best of the Australians at $11 and David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Ben Stokes, Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, James Anderson and Chris Rogers are all on the third line of betting at a quote of $13.
Broad did the job for us in the fourth test and there is no reason why he can’t produce another match winning performance for his side.
He is a confidence player and it is tough to see how his confidence could be any higher following his efforts at Trent Bridge.
There is not a great deal of value with any of the Australians taking part in this test, but Mitchell Johnson at $15 does offer a bit of value as the anger he is sure to be feeling could help him return to his unplayable best.
Recommended Bets: Back Mitchell Johnson ($15) and Stuart Broad ($13) to be named man of the match
Top Australian Batsman
It is tough to have any faith in any of the Australian batsman at the moment, but our most consistent performer this season has been Chris Rogers.
Rogers is the type of bloke that has the determination to finish his test career with a big score and he is slightly over the odds at his current quote of $5.
Recommended Bet: Back David Warner ($5) to be Australia’s top batsman
Top England Batsman
Joe Root has easily been the standout batsmen during the 2015 Ashes Series and he is deserving of his status as a clear favourite at a quote of $3.75.
It is tough to bet against Root and the inconsistent form of his rivals means that he still represents some good value at that quote.
Recommended Bet: Back Joe Root ($3.75) to be Australia’s top batsman
