Australia vs New Zealand First Test Preview

Australia vs New Zealand First Test Preview

It feels like the football season just finished, but the summer of cricket is already here and the first test between Australia and New Zealand gets underway at the Gabba this morning.

The Australian Cricket side were back to the top of the world cricket tree when they won the 2015 World Cup earlier in the year, but the test side was unable to replicate that performance and they lost the Ashes in England a few months back.

After the Ashes disaster, this will be a new-look Australian Test side with Steve Smith back in charge and it will be interesting to see how the likes of Usman Khawaja and Joe Burns fare against the New Zealand fast-bowling led by Trent Boult and Tim Southee.

Australia vs New Zealand First Test Betting

Australia are clear favourites to take out the first test at the Gabba and they are priced at $1.67 to start the summer of cricket with a win in the opening international game of the season.

Australia has not lost a test match in Brisbane for over 26 years and New Zealand are priced at $4 to make recent history, while the draw seems unlikely unless there is rain and we currently have it at $4.50.

Top Australian Runscorer – 1st Innings

Steve Smith is always the safest best in these betting markets for Australia and the $3.25 that is currently on offer is great value. David Warner is on the second line of betting at $4 from Joe Burns ($6), Usman Khawaja ($6.50), Adam Voges ($7) and Mitchell Marsh ($11).

Top New Zealand Runscorer – 1st Innings

Kane Williamson has developed into one of the best batsmen in the world and he is priced at $4 to finish the first innings as the top runscorer for New Zealand from Brendon McCullum ($5), Ross Taylor ($5.50), Martin Guptill ($5.50) and Tom Latham ($7).

Man Of The Match

There is plenty of value on offer in this betting market. David Warner ($8) and Steve Smith ($8) are locked in a battle for favouritism, whole there has also been support for Mitchell Starc ($9) and Mitchell Johnson ($10). The value selection here could be Trent Boult ($17), who has shown in the past that he can cause the Australian top order big issues.
