After a lacklustre test series against the West Indies, the Australian Cricket team returns with what should be a far more competitive ODI series against India.
The Australian selectors have selected an inexperienced side for the opening clash at the WACA and fast-bowlers Joel Paris and Scott Boland are both set to make their debuts, while all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is the only spinner in the side.
India are instead set to go in with two spinners in the form of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, but it is their batting where they have plenty of strength, with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli among some of the most explosive batsmen in the world.
This is set to be a very interesting game of cricket and we have analysed the recent history between the two sides to come up with the best betting plays.
Head To Head Betting
India have a very poor record at the WACA and that is one of the major reasons that Australia are set to start the opening game of the series as dominant favourites.
The WACA is definitely not the fast bowlers haven that it once was, but in recent test series against Australia the Indian top order has still struggled at the venue and they don’t have the fast bowlers that are capable of taking advantage of the bouncing pitch.
India have won just one of the past seven ODI matches played between these two sides in Australia, but they did show some promising signs in their recent tour game against a Western Australian XI.
There is not a great deal of edge in the $1.40 that is currently available for Australia, but they have an excellent record at the venue and are a fairly safe bet to get the job done in the opening game of the series.
Recommended Bet: Back Australia at $1.40
Man Of The Match
David Warner has an excellent record at the WACA and he is currently clear favourite in our Man Of The Match Betting market from Steve Smith ($8), Aaron Finch ($8), Rohit Sharma ($10) and Shikhar Dhawan ($10).
Warner loves the ball coming onto the bet and that is definitely what he is going to get at the WACA this afternoon.
He returned to form with a quick century against the West Indies and it would not surprise if he got after the Indian attack in a big way this afternoon.
Recommended Bet: Back David Warner ($7) to be named man of the match
Top Australian Batsman
Steve Smith ($3.75) and Warner ($3.75) are locked in a battle for favouritism in this betting market from Finch ($4.50), George Bailey ($6.50) and Glenn Maxwell ($8).
Warner is definitely the leading contender in this betting market, but if the Australian top order do struggle than the $8 on offer for Maxwell also represents a great deal of value.
Recommended Bet: Back Aaron Finch ($4.5) to be Australia’s top batsman and Glenn Maxwell ($8)
Top Indian Batsman
Rohit Sharma ($4) and Virat Kohli ($4) are on top of this betting market from Ajinkya Rahane ($5), Shikhar Dhawan ($5) and MS Dhoni ($7).
There is not a great deal between the Indian batting line-up and any of them are capable of brilliance on their day, but it is Dhoni that actually has the best record in Australian condition and he represents plenty of value at his current quote of $7.
Recommended Bet: Back MS Dhoni ($7) to be India’s top batsman
Innings Of Winnings
For the opening game of the ODI Series between India and Australia we also have a special Innings Of Winnings promotion. $5 for David Warner to top score for Australia and Australia to win is a big price, while Virat Kohli is priced at $9 to top score for India and lead his team to victory.
