Melbourne Cup Day might be over for another year, but we’re full steam ahead into our Wednesday Racing Tips for November 4th below, including Kyneton best bets and our 2026 Kyneton Cup tips!
Johnny Tightlips resumes in a winnable race on Kyneton Cup Day.
We haven’t seen Johnny Tightlips at the races since June, and while he didn’t manage to break his maiden in three appearances during his debut prep, he was only just denied on all three occasions.
He can hit the ground running today and begin his journey through the grades.

| Returns from a lengthy spell with the strongest exposed maiden profile, having filled second at all three starts. He was a short odds-on favourite when beaten a length by Signed By A Kiss in a Mdn at Kilmore, with the held-up patch adding merit to the run, and he had been beaten a nose there the start prior. Consistent profile and clearly the one to beat. | |||
Bacash is third up and primed to strike on Kyneton Cup Day.
The Lindsay Park-trained galloper needed his first run back this time to tune up, but he turned in a vastly improved performance to only just miss in Saturday metro company at Morphettville last time out.
Fitter third up today, he looks well placed to get up.

| Went within a nose of winning a BM70 at Morphettville last start, sitting just off the lead and only being pipped late after starting a well-supported favourite. The move into a BM74 is a small test, but he eases back from Saturday company, is third-up and has two wins with four placings from eight goes at this distance. The BM74 rise is manageable, and Daniel Stackhouse back on is a clear plus. | |||
Sunlit Serenade is the one for me in Race 7.
Sunlit Serenade has been seen in action since May, but she was an impressive winner at this point of her last preparation.
Having trialled up well, she takes weight from every other horse engaged and is drawn to receive every chance under Damian Lane.
| 9. Sunlit Serenade (3) 56.5kg9x10x | |||
| Returns from a lengthy spell after ending last campaign with a last at Pakenham, beaten six and a half lengths in BM66 grade when sent out at big odds. Her Echuca Class 1 win before that was better, storming home as a well-supported favourite to beat Here Comes Wozza. The Echuca win reads well, but her final run last campaign was plain. | |||
Sun Gift looks well placed in a Kyneton Cup.
The Danny O’Brien-trained mare is yet to strike in three runs back this time, but she was only just denied in a decent race at Cranbourne two back before finishing a credible seventh, beaten only a length and a half in the Tesio Stakes when up in grade at Flemington last time out.
She’s hard fit, drawn to effect and will carry only 54kgs.

| Was better than seventh reads in the G3 Tesio Stakes, beaten a length and a half by Soverato after beginning slowly in Saturday company. She had been a solid Cranbourne second to Ocean Bay start prior despite interference, and this distance is a clear strength with three wins and five places from eleven starts. Eased from Saturday company, she looks a strong chance. | |||
