Week 23 of the Premier League gets underway in the midlands on Saturday night Australian time when Norwich City and Liverpool both look to return to winning form.
A London derby will be contested between Crystal Palace and Tottenham but the weekend is undoubtedly highlighted by Monday morning’s fixture between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates.

Norwich City vs Liverpool
Norwich City and Liverpool both suffered defeats in their respective Week 22 Premier League fixtures and will be keen to return to a winning tune on Saturday night Australian time. Liverpool have still been unable to post much of a consistent run of form since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp but remain in the hunt for a European berth in ninth overall, while the Canaries remain entrenched in the relegation fight. At home Norwich has been far better and Liverpool probably don’t deserve to start such clear favourites, but this is a fixture that seems to be covered in the word ‘draw’.
West Bromwich Albion vs Aston Villa
West Brom were particularly disappointing in their heavy loss to Southampton last weekend but are offered an ideal opportunity to respond against the bottom-placed Aston Villa, who have been unable to make anything of an impact on the league this season. Perhaps most disappointing about the Baggies’ performance last weekend was it followed an impressive 2-2 draw away from home against Chelsea, and they were simply unable to frank the form displayed in that performance. Regardless, Villa are nothing short of dreadful this season and West Brom should have no issue cruising to victory.
Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur
One of the matches of the weekend will likely be played when Crystal Palace and Tottenham line up for a London Derby early Sunday morning Australian time. Palace were dealt a 4-0 thrashing by a rampant Manchester City last weekend but that is really the only blemish on a season that has so far seen them to eighth overall and well on their way to a European berth. Spurs have returned to competition in typically strong and consistent form this time and boast a wealth of talent all over the pitch. In these London derbies results can realistically fall either way but in current form, a draw represents terrific value for money.
Manchester United vs Southampton
Manchester United delivered fierce foes Liverpool a 1-0 defeat at Anfield and will look to consolidate that result when they return home to face Southampton this weekend. The Red Devils have been pretty out of sorts recently but remain well in the hunt for the title; fifth overall and only a couple of wins off the pace set by Arsenal and Leicester City. Southampton are locked in the centre of standings; not causing many ripples but also well away from danger. The Saints’ best performances have undoubtedly come at St Marys and United should have no issue chalking up another win this weekend.
Leicester City vs Stoke City
Leicester City’s incredible run of form has continued post-Christmas and while held to a draw by Villa in Week 22, have still suffered only two defeats this year. Stoke City have continued to build in form and class and remain seventh overall following a string of good and consistent results. The Foxes have just been something else this year and at home will be very hard to beat. Stoke are not without a chance but at $2 odds, it’s very hard to look past Leicester.
Watford vs Newcastle United
The in-form Watford host a reasonably inconsistent Newcastle this weekend, who have posted a few good results to their credit in recent weeks. The Hornets are not assured survival at this point of the season and will have to ensure they continue to post healthy results if they are to secure a second Premier League season while it’s almost already a do-or-die for the Magpies. Newcastle’s performance last week means they offer great value at current odds but a draw is again a likely outcome.
