- GBOTA Ladbrokes Monthly Medal officially in place for one year.
- Initiative has returned a total of $156,000 in bonus winnings.
- Has led to increases in nomination recruitment and overall attendance.
The Ladbrokes Monthly Medal has officially been on offer for one year and we are thrilled to announce a return of $156,000 in additional prize money to winning dogs, trainers and owners.
Every time a greyhound sporting the red Ladbrokes ‘1’ jacket wins a race Bathurst, Bulli, Gosford, Lismore Ladbrokes Park, Maitland and Wentworth Park through a four week period, $200 is added to a jackpot pool.
An event at the conclusion of the month at each of the six tracks is selected to gain the jackpot pool accumulated throughout the prior four weeks of competition, and the lucky winner of that designated race walks away with the standard prize money as well as the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal bonus.
Races vary in distance, grade and conditions to ensure a vast range of dogs have the opportunity to compete for and ultimately win the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal, and the bonus has quickly become a highly sought-after prize on the New South Wales greyhound circuit.
Operations Manager of NSW Greyhound Breeders Owners & Trainers Association Ellen Harris said the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal has led to a noticeable increase in participation and interest throughout the last 12 months.
“The NSW GBOTA can’t thank Ladbrokes enough for the support they provide. Initiatives such as the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal have been real strokes of genius, it has assisted in nomination recruitment to meetings and really driving attendance to these meetings,” Harris said.
“We have had trainers chase the Ladbrokes Monthly Medals, Christine and Alan Proctor have won three events with Bessy Boo. That’s an additional $12,000 towards his career prizemoney.”
“The mix of trainers to win the event has also varied dramatically, and that’s what the idea was about.”
Trainer Alan Proctor has experienced notable success in Ladbrokes Monthly Medal races and credits the initiative as a big boost for Greyhound racing in New South Wales.
“In NSW we are struggling for prizemoney at the moment, so to have an additional couple of thousand thanks to Ladbrokes is just unbelievable,” Proctor said.
“The Ladbrokes Monthly Medal is a credit to the NSW GBOTA and Ladbrokes and it is great to see something new which is there for the participant.”
“Ladbrokes are the best supporter greyhound racing in NSW has.”
Ladbrokes Australia holds greyhound racing in very high regard and the Monthly Medal bonus represents a terrific opportunity to give back to the community; ensuring the quality of competition, fan engagement and overall experience remains at a high standard.
