There was plenty of standout racing around Australia over the weekend, but one Ladbrokes punter instead used his knowledge of the international circuit to his advantage; pulling off one of the most impressive Legendary Lands we have seen to date.
Ireland and the United Kingdom are home to some of the world’s best racing week-in, week-out and there was no exception to that rule this past weekend; meets at Punchestown and Chepstow highlighting a particularly strong few days.
Our Legendary punter selected eight winners from the weekend’s racing in Ireland, the UK and South Africa, and turned a measly $1 investment into an incredible $9,519 windfall!
The successful multi began at Ireland’s Punchestown meeting on Friday where our punter selected two of his eight legs; the Willie Mullins-trained Vroum Vroum Mag ($2.10) in the Group 1 Punchestown Champion Hurdle (3200m) and Jer’s Girl ($2.70) in the Group 1 Ireland Champion Novice Hurdle (4023m).
Both runners were favourites in their respective races and most than justified their tags with comfortable, un-challenged victories.
Focus then shifted to England’s Chepstow course, where our punter fancied consistent gallop Jezza in the Western Medical Supplies Handicap (3263m).
The ten-year-old finished a close second in his two starts leading into Friday’s run, and clearly relished five weeks between runs when producing an impressive late effort to find the line half a length ahead of Fuzzy Logic at $3.50 odds.
Bajan Rebel returned to racing this time for success in a Catterick minor over 1408m on April 20th and was set for something of a quick back-up in the Bruce Stevenson Insurance Brokers Handicap (1438m) at Musselburgh on Friday.
Having received a dream run in transit from a good draw, the Bahamian Bounty mare kicked clear with ease in the final straight to savage the line more than three lengths ahead of her closest rivals; delivering our punter the fourth leg of his Legendary Land at $2.90 odds.
South African racing has continued improve in recent years and our punter has clearly kept a keen eye on the country’s industry; adding two legs from Friday’s meet at Greyville to his successful multi.
Lonely Arethebrave left as a $3.90 favourite in Race 3, despite being unable to return to winning form in seven prior starts this year.
After the four-year-old delivered our punter a comfortable win at generous the generous quote, in-form mare Overlap repeated the dose in Race 5 at $3.80 odds to leave our punter only two legs from an incredible land.
Attention returned to the UK and our punter would have been somewhat confident in his final two selections; Lightning Charlie in the seventh at Lingfield and Quadriller in the second at Fontwell Park; both clear favourites in their respective races.
Neither horse appeared in doubt and officially turned our punter’s $1 investment into a truly breath-taking $9,519.35!
