Consecutive victories over competition leaders has not only enhanced Canberra’s NRL premiership credentials, but resulted in its title price being sliced with online bookmaker Ladbrokes.
The Raiders, with wins over Cronulla and Melbourne in the past two rounds, have firmed from $8 into $6 for the premiership over that period, having been as much as $11 just five weeks ago.
The Raiders are one of only two teams punters have wanted anything to do with in the past fortnight, with the Storm still a rock solid $3.50 favourite despite last night’s loss.
Like their good form, punters have deserted Cronulla with barely a bet taken on the Sharks for the premiership this month. They’re $4 out to $5 having not won since round 20.
It’s a similar story with North Queensland, who have been $4.50 out to $7 on the back of a horror few weeks, while back to back wins for the Broncos has some believing again; last year’s runners-up firming from $11 into $8.
The Titans, who were smashed in from $51 to $21 after Jarryd Hayne put pen to paper, before easing back to their original quote after losing to the Warriors, are now back into $26 following the weekend’s win over Wests.
One punter prefers the Panthers to cause a premiership boilover, investing $1000 on Penrith at odds of $51 just last week. They’re now $26.
