The Los Angeles Clippers were a very safe betting play as away favourites last season. They won 24 of their last 30 games in that scenario and they were a particularly impressive 18-10-2 against the line. Portland were a losing betting proposition as home underdogs and they looked very flat in their season opener.
Perth are away from home, but will still go into this clash with the Illawarra Hawks as clear favourites. The problem for the Wildcats is that they have generally underperformed as home favourites and they are a losing proposition in this scenario. The Hawks have won two of their past three games as home underdogs, while they are 11-4 against the line at home.
Melbourne City are on the quick back-up after a fiery FFA Cup semi-final clash with Melbourne Victory earlier in the week. Adelaide United have made a slow start to the A-League season, but they have still proven to be a profitable betting team as away underdogs. There is not as much between these teams as the odds suggest and $4.20 for an Adelaide victory is a great bet.
Otago have looked a class above their rivals in the Mitre 10 Cup all season long and they should be able to secure the Championship with a comfortable victory over North Harbour. Otago beat North Harbour by nine points when they met during the regular season and there is no doubt they have improved since.
