The third race at the Pinjarra Harness Races could not be further away from the glamour of the UEFA Champions League, but one punter has been able to combine both these events to win an absolute packet.
This gutsy punter had three separate multis that combined the same six legs from the Champions League this morning with a single horse or greyhound at either Pinjarra, Bathurst or Ballarat.
A great deal of value was added to each of these multis when he took the Half-Time/Full-Time Double of Draw/Monaco in the clash between Tottenham and Monaco this morning at the big odds of $5.50.
No goals were scored in the first half and two goals from Monaco in the second period were enough to get one leg home.
Our punter was keen to ride the Leicester City fairytale and they were always in control in their clash with Club Brugge this morning at the short price of $1.44, while Lyon ($1.55) were able to get the job done against Dinamo Zagreb thanks to a second-half goal.
It is rare to see punters throwing their support behind the draw in football clashes, but this brilliant punter did exactly that.
He took the $3.10 on offer for a draw between Copenhagen and FC Porto and would have been delighted when neither side were able to score.
There were a few nervous moments in the clash between Bayer Leverkusen and CSKA Moscow as Bayer Leverkusen led for the majority of the game, but Moscow were able to take a point with a 75th minute goal.
The closest that our punter came to disaster was in the fixture between Sporting Lisbon and Real Madrid.
He backed both teams to score and Real Madrid to win at a price of $2.75 and it looked as though his multi was going to go up in flames when Sporting Lisbon equalised with just 10 minutes left to play.
A late goal from Karim Benzema was able to save both Real Madrid and our punter from a shock loss!
The most interesting part of this string of multis was our punters decision to add just one racing bet to each of these multis.
He had $500 on the first multi at a quote of $466.23 for a return of $338,487.50, with the crucial leg proving to be Alkiaras Desire at Pinjarra, who raced away to record a dominant victory.
The second multi was $100 at $500.76 for a return of $50,076.42 and it was Bathurst-based greyhound Nangar Flame that got the job done at the price of $1.45.
The final multi was also $100 on at the juicy price of $552.57 for a lucrative return of $55,256.74 and the final leg was greyhound Iron Side in the 12th race at Ballarat on Tuesday.
Iron Side was very well-backed and did the job comfortably to set up our punter for another big victory!
This is one of the most interesting sets of multis that we have even seen, but you can’t argue with the results – $700 into $338,487.50.
