Mischa Zverev is one of the most exciting young players in tennis at the moment and he is more than capable of making a deep run at the APIA International in Sydney. He takes on Nicholas Almagro in the opening round and he should really be a clear favourite, who struggled badly on hard courts in 2016.
Adrian Mannarino is one of the most overrated players on the ATP Tour and I am always keen to take him on from a betting perspective. He finished last season with a hold/break percentage of 97% on hard courts and that is less than Baghdatis, who was able to finish with a hold/break percentage of over 100%.
There is not as much between these two teams as the current betting market suggests. The Melbourne Stars generally underperform compared to market expectations and they have had big problems winning at the MCG. The Adelaide Strikers returned to their best against Hobart and they have a well-rounded side that is more than capable of winning at a nice price.
Lucie Safarova will start this clash at the Hobart International as a clear favourite, but it is extremely tough to get her as short as her current price. She won only three matches on hard courts last season and her reputation is much larger than her actual ability. Risa Ozaki is unproven, but is worth the risk at the big price.
