Pacific Ale Leads GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers Betting

  • Ladbrokes opens betting markets surrounding GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2016
  • Reigning champion Stone & Wood Pacific Ale favourite to retain title

Stone & Wood Pacific Ale is set to successfully defend its title as Australia’s best brew when voting for the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2016 closes on Friday night.

That is the tale of the tape in betting markets at Ladbrokes, where the Byron Bay-produced ale and winner of last year’s prize remains an outright $2.80 favourite, ahead of Feral Brewing Company’s Hop Hog ($3.50) and Pirate Life Brewing’s IIPA ($5).

Stone & Wood Pacific Ale has fast become the first choice of any good Aussie beer aficionado since its inception into the market only a few years ago, and this love affair has blossomed into several major prizes and international recognition.

Ladbrokes bookmaker Tony Wilmot said that Stone & Wood Pacific Ale is a deserving favourite of the top line of GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2016, not simply because it is the carryover champion.

“Stone & Wood Pacific Ale was a deserving winner of the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers in 2015 and this year is no different,” said Wilmot.

“Pac Ale is brewed with the current climate in mind; a factor that is sure to come into play for any Aussie beer lover who is yet to cast their votes.

“Above everything, it’s just a great beer that is loved by thousands and we’re expecting plenty of attention in the days leading up to the close of voting.”

Pirate Life Brewing’s Pale Ale ($5.50) currently figures as the sole occupant of the fourth line of betting, while James Squire 150 Lashes ($8) is the only other beer available at single-figure odds.

Ladbrokes’ GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2016 betting market will close on Friday morning (January 20th).
