There is less than a day until Donald J. Trump is inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States and online bookmaker Ladbrokes has framed betting markets around what is sure to be a memorable show.
Trump successfully ran the most infamous and unique presidential campaign in US history and regardless of his effectiveness as leader of the free world, is sure to remain in the headlines for the next four-to-eight years.
The inauguration is expected to draw billions of eyes as the world prepares for the beginning of uncertainty and a record TV viewership is expected in the homeland. Ladbrokes has installed a USA TV viewership of 35-39.9 million as a $2.60 favourite, ahead of 40 million or higher ($4).
Trump’s stance on immigration and the country’s position with neighbouring nation Mexico set a tone for his campaign and Ladbrokes is offering $14 for country star Toby Keith to play his song “Stays In Mexico” at the inauguration.
Ladbrokes bookmaker Tony Wilmot said that regardless of how well Trump’s reign as president is taken, the seventy-year-old’s outlandish personality will leave nothing out of the question.
“Donald Trump has been one of the United States’ biggest personalities for decades and has never allowed anything to get in the way of his opinions,” said Wilmot.
“The only thing that has really changed recently is that we now find ourselves in a position where those opinions carry a lot more weight.
“If the last twelve or eighteen months have told us anything, it’s that none of these markets are at all out of the question!”
Meryl Streep used her lifetime achievement award speech to publically berate Trump a fortnight ago and Ladbrokes punters can take advantage of $51 for the multiple Academy Award-winner to repeat the effort at Saturday’s inauguration.
Ladbrokes is also offering a wide variety of fun betting markets on everything from the length of Trump’s speech and the colour of his tie, to the unique ‘Buzzword Bingo’ option.
