The eviction of fan favourite Jay Laga’aia has led to a major shakeup of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
Laga’aia remained firm at $5 on the third line of betting leading into the second eviction of the third series of the popular reality competition, however fans turned on the Play School host and he was sent packing.
While Collingwood legend Dane Swan remains the outright $2.40 favourite despite drifting, it is former Australian Idol winner Casey Donovan who has experienced the biggest move this week; firming in from $7 to figure as the $3.80 second-favourite.
Ladbrokes bookmaker Tony Wilmot said that Donovan is an extremely relatable contestant and her popularity looks like it will only continue to soar.
“Fans are relating to Casey’s ‘realness’ and honesty, and she’s only continuing to gain admirers as the competition presses on.” Wilmot said.
“We’re also seeing the old ‘Idol’ fans climbing out of the woodwork the more Casey is shown with her guitar in hand and we’d certainly have her as an odds-on favourite if it was solely about singing!
“A few of this season’s celebrities are really starting to shine through in our betting market and that isn’t only because of their likeability – some of their rivals are doing a great job of diminishing their own chances!”
It has been a quiet week for British expat Kris Smith, who has drifted out to $8, while a display of raw emotion by Steve Price has seen him firm into $5 third-favouritism.
Former The Bachelor contestant Keira Maguire has more than announced herself, to say the least, to the competition since entering on Day 19, but she has only continued to drift to a current $19 quote; perched only above Tziporah Malkah ($31).
The latest addition to the South African jungle, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy’s Carson Kressley has opened at $15 to win the third series of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! Australia.
