So at this point in the show there were three girls left who hadn’t been on single dates yet – Jen, Elise and Simone.
Jen and Simone in particular had been struggling to comprehend that Matty hadn’t wanted one-on-one time with them.
In fact, they’d actually bonded over it. They finally had something in common – rejection. What a lovely foundation for a friendship.
Anyway, Elise was finally asked on a single date which gave Jen and Simone more to whinge about.
“Does he like me? Did I say something silly?” Simone asked.
“Seriously, Elise over me? I cannot believe this,” Jen said.
“I feel pretty pissed off if I’m honest,” Simone replied.
“When her name was called I was like, ‘You bitch’,” Jen said.
Now, Elise hasn’t featured a hell of a lot yet, but she’s the former Hockeyroo who’s dad warned Matty to stop stringing his daughter along in the previous episode.
Matty took her on a double decker bus tour of Sydney, they played hockey, and sat in a spa on a boat on the harbour which looked amazing.
She got a pash and a rose, but it was still a little forced for mine.
Especially when Matty said, “If you asked me how I felt about Elise a week ago, it would have been very different.”
Ah well, he’s giving her a go she’s in the mix now.
Then there was a group date, where the girls divided into two teams to play beach games.
Jen set a friendly tone early.
“Just understand that if Simone and I hurt you to get the one-on-one time with Matty, so be it,” Jen said.
“I do have a bit of mongrel in me. If I have to I’ll play dirty.”
Despite Jen’s desperate efforts to win, Lisa’s team won, which meant those girls got to go have a BBQ with Matty.
Jen was furious but left without incident, but deep down I knew this wasn’t the end of it.
Matty managed to have a private chat with Tara at the BBQ.
She took a sausage with her so they shared it and had a cheeky pash as well.
She’s my pick to win.
Anyway, the reason I’m running through the episode so fast is because the cocktail party was amazing.
Just like Leah before her, Jen had a volcanic eruption.
She decided to try and take Lisa down (probably out of revenge for losing the beach games) so she went and told Matty that Lisa didn’t have feelings for him and had “openly said she sees you like a brother”.
Matty was shocked, but there was worse to come.
Jen claimed that Lisa had said Matty was only there to keep his social status up.
Well, that hit Matty hard.
Jen was pretty pleased with how her chat went, going by her confident strut back into the party. But she’d thrown a grenade and the explosion was imminent.
How she didn’t think it would backfire on her was baffling. I blame the wine.
Anyhow, Matty went and bailed Lisa up to question her about it and Lisa looked genuinely shocked.
She admitted she didn’t have a strong connection with him yet because she hadn’t spent much time with him since early days, and watching his face I started to think Jen might actually get rid of Lisa.
A few of the other girls were eavesdropping as Lisa stuttered her way through her answers and it began to dawn on them that Jen had attempted a drive by.
“I really hate to see good people thrown under the bus by people with ulterior motives,” Elise said.
So they confronted Jen.
“I got cornered in the drama cabana,” Jen said.
Seriously, that is the quote of the series.
“Don’t you think the rational thing would have been to go to Lisa first?” Tara asked.
“I wasn’t doing it to be nasty. I was just looking out for Matty. I didn’t do it in a malicious way,” Jen claimed through crocodile tears.
If she’s not careful, she’ll drown drinking her own bathwater.
Anyway, it blew up and Jen stormed off, and had to be comforted by a producer in another room. It was very dramatic.
“I’m so over these bitches. I just want to go home. I graduated high school ages ago.
“The house is full of bitches. They are 100 percent fake. I wouldn’t trust them as far as I could throw them.
“I didn’t do anything to deserve this.” Ha! I nearly spat out my wine.
I half thought she’d stay just to make things uncomfortable but she packed a bag and decided to drunkenly walk down the driveway.
It was quite the sight.
“I knew they were going to be intimidated by me.”
“I’m the girl who walked away from Matty J.”
I’m devastated. Without Jen and Leah, there is no drama for the cabana. And without the drama, it’s just an ordinary cabana. Wah. I’ll miss her.
