The weekend racing action was dominated by the Magic Millions Meeting at the Gold Coast and there were plenty of punters that finished the day as massive winners following the victories of Care To Think, Pierata, Sunlight and Viddora.
A combination of those four gallopers in a multi paid out very nicely, but one of the best pieces of punting on the weekend actually took place at Ballarat on Sunday.
This astute punter complied a six-leg multi at the Ballarat meeting and was able to turn $10 into an outstanding $5862.46.
Pleasuring always looked like the good thing of the day at Ballarat and that proved to be the chase as she cruised to victory at a quote of $1.95 to get our punter off to a winning start.
There were some worrying signs in the lead-up to Ballarat Race 3 for our punter as Pretty To Sea drifted from $3.30 out to $4.60 pre-race as there was a great deal of support for Red Liberty.
He needn’t have bothered.
Pretty To Sea produced a simply outstanding performance to record a dominant five lengths win and give our punter another winner.
He took the conservative route in race five when he backed Notable Choice to place and he may have been kicking himself slightly when the Robbie Griffiths-trained horses scored an upset win at $19.
It was another place bet in race six and yet another winner as Paris Rock absolutely bolted in to record a dominant win from the favourite Kaptive Hero.
The winning streak came to an end in race seven, but not our punters multi as the second place finish of Godolphin-owned Ancient History meant that he was now only one leg away from a massive multi win.
It all came down to Straviera in the final race of the day and to say that our punter went through a tough watch may be the understatement of the week.
Straviera not only had to get the past the leader in the final stages of the race, but she had to hold off a wall of swoopers and she looked as though she had been beaten on the line.
It took an eternity for the photo to come through and our punter would have been sweating bullets, but it was Straviera that got the nod and she delivered him $5862.46 from his $10 investment!
