T20 Australia v New Zealand Preview

T20 Australia v New Zealand Preview

The Australians head to New Zealand for their next T20 on Friday at Eden Park.

Australia is undefeated in the Tri Series between England and New Zealand and is guaranteed a spot in the final next week which is also at Eden Park.

They have clearly been the best team in the series so far and will surely move up the rankings having started the series ranked 7th in the world.

New Zealand had their first win of the series against England at Westpac Stadium in Wellington on Tuesday night and will be looking to continue their winning ways.

New Zealand need to keep winning in order to avoid the embarrassment of watching the final being played in their home country without them participating.

Head To Head Betting

The Black Caps piled on 196 runs against England in Wellington on a very unusual pitch and that total proved too much for England to chase down.

New Zealand adapt very well to the small grounds at home and have players that can take advantage of the short boundaries.

It was encouraging for the Kiwi faithful to see the likes of Kane Williamson and Martin Guptill amongst the runs on Tuesday and both with need to fire if they are to beat the Aussies.

Australia has been simply superb in this series so far with almost every player contributing when needed.

Their success has come through a solid and unified bowling attack that has not only been tight but have been wicket takers at regular intervals.

The Australian bowling attack has allowed the batsmen to play with freedom and in an environment without a lot of pressure in which they have thrived.

The Australian batsmen have also been very versatile in the batting order which sets them up well going forward.

On one side of the coin, Eden park seems a big advantage to the likes of in form big hitters Chris Lynn, Glen Maxwell and Aaron Finch.

On the other, the Black Caps have their own big hitters and can make big scores on their home grounds.

We can not split them in head to head betting so have found some value in a game that should produce plenty of runs.

Top Australia Runscorer

Chris Lynn ($4.33) is currently a narrow favourite in Top Australia Runscorer betting from David Warner ($4.50) and the in form D’arcy Short ($4.50). Glen Maxwell and Aaron Finch are both on the next line of betting at $5.50.

The Australians did not have many to chase down at the MCG against England but they still made short work of it, wrapping the game up in the 15th over.

D’arcy Short was amongst the runs with just over a run a ball 36 and without losing his wicket.

Both Chris Lynn and Glen Maxwell play the same way no matter the situation and chimed in with some huge hitting at the MCG and you can expect some of the same here.

David Warner has been a hard one to assess so far. Has the captaincy put too much added pressure on the slashing opener or is he simply out of form in this format?

Marcus Stoinis has fond memories of Eden Park. He rose to stardom last summer with an unbeaten 146 in just his second ODI at this very ground and if the top order doens’t quite do their job, he may hit a few over the fence.

Top New Zealand Runscorer

Martin Guptill is the favourite ($3.75) ahead of Colin Munro ($4.00) and the skipper Kane Williamson ($4.50), in Top New Zealand Runscorer betting markets.

Martin Guptill was striking the ball magnificently on Tuesday and eden park is not big enough if he gets going again.

Kane Williamson looked all class the other night and he is always a chance to steer his team to victory with a big score.

Colin Munro hit 11 from 13 balls in Wellington and never really got going however he looks the value to top score for his country at the top of the order.
