While your NRL tipping form sits in the bin, one punter has put together a remarkable perfect weekend of picks to turn $100 into $21,333.73. That makes it two weeks in a row someone has backed all eight winners over a weekend. As is always the case there were some tense finishes, upsets and one result you never saw coming but it all lead to one successful weekend for this person.
The weekend started off on a positive note with the Roosters beating the Bulldogs on Thursday night. The less said about that game the better though. Our punter backed the (slight) underdog Warriors to do the job at home and end the Dragons undefeated run. Isaiah Papali’i ended any nerves of a late score to put the Warriors up by eight.
Craig Bellamy has a great head to head record against Wayne Bennett and that was backed in Friday night’s second game as Billy Slater and Josh Addo-Carr guided the Storm to victory. Saturday kicked off with the Rabbitohs belting the Raiders by 20 in Gosford. Three Rabbitohs tries in the first quarter of an hour set them up with a lead that would not be relinquished.
Saturday’s second game produced the most dramatic finish of the round with the Knights overcoming a late injury to Mitchell Pearce to come from behind to snatch victory from the Tigers in Tamworth. With the Tigers going on a try-spree just after halftime to put themselves into the lead it looked like the multi-would fall through at this leg before Shaun Kenny-Dowall’s late winner kept it alive. The Cowboys made it a perfect Saturday night finding their scoring touch to top the Cowboys in Townsville.
Taking Parramatta to turn around their 54-0 loss to the Eagles was easily the bravest pick of the multi but low and behold, not only did Parramatta turn it around, they thumped Manly 44-10. Unconfirmed reports suggest our punter is a very optimistic Eels fan, or at least they will be after that result.
Penrith’s late comeback attempt in the final match of the round might have rattled a few nerves but Vilame Kikau’s 79th minute try was too little too late. The Sharks had built up a big enough lead to hold out and cap a perfect 8/8 weekend for this lucky punter.
