The Badgelor – Episode 5

The Badgelor – Episode 5

To talk behind one’s back or not to talk behind one’s back, that is the question?

It was these kinds of moral dilemma that dominated episode 5 in a family-themed episode of The Bachelor.

Fortunately, it gave plenty of scope to give out the votes in The Badgelor.

The Bachelor Episode 5 Recap

– The episode starts with the first slo-mo shot of The Honey Badger running along the beach. It took them five episodes to get there. He has a single date with Sophie. When he greets her, Sophie makes sure she puts the Blistex Lip Balm on. There is no place for blatant product placement on reality TV. There was a pash later in the date and luckily Sophie put her Blistex on beforehand to make sure that special kiss was nice and smooth.

– Back at the Bachelor Mansion, Osher informs the girls that the group date won’t involve The Honey Badger but rather the Honey Badger’s family. Nick Cummins’ Dad, Sister and Brother arrive. The girls would spend time with The Honey Badgers family and the person they judged best would get to have dinner with the Family and of course, Nick “The Honey Badger” Cummins.

– Turns out that Cass (who dated the Badger before the show) had also hung out with the Honey Badger’s brother on the Gold Coast at one stage. The mystery remains as to what exactly Cass’es relationship with The Honey Badger was before they ended up on the show together.

— The Honey Badger’s sister Bernadette speaks to a few of the girls like she’s coordinating a job interview. After speaking to a few of the other ladies, she then has a chat with Romy. Romy spends the time bagging out Cass saying she’s too young and too obsessed with the Honey Badger. This is overheard by Blair.

– Bernadette is also suss on Cat only being on the show for exposure to her Instagram business. Cat is SHOCKED and APPALLED by these accusations.

– The Cummins family ends up selecting Brooke to have dinner with them. And why wouldn’t they? Brooke’s a sweetheart.

– Back at the mansion’s cocktail party, Blair attacks Romy for bagging out Cass behind her back. Blair finds that apparently eavesdropping is a far worse crime. Meanwhile, one of the other “mean girls” of the series, Cat loves every minute of it.

– Cass gets desperate to speak to Nick about how she feels (again). Everyone is noticing that she isn’t coping being on a dating show. When she eventually gets some one on one time with him, The Honey Badger is all class informing her that as they have dated previously and have some insight into each other it wouldn’t be fair on the other girls for him to devote all of his time to Cass. Cass seems somewhat reassured by this.

– At the Rose Ceremony, Blair who eavesdropped on Romy’s conversation with Bernadette bagging out Cass, doesn’t receive a Rose. Cat was impatient that she didn’t get one straight away and Cass wasn’t stressed she was going home. Blair also leaves the show with the sneaking suspicion that some people go on a show like The Bachelor to be famous not for love. I refuse to believe it.

The Badgelor Episode 5 Votes

1 Vote- Romy

Her hypocrisy when being called out by Blair and justification for bitching about Cass to the Honey Badger’s sister was similar to when George Costanza once famously said “It’s not a lie, if you believe it.”  For giving me an excuse to reference Seinfeld alone, she gets a vote.

2 Votes – Brooke

How can anyone not like Brooke? Right now, the 23 year old footy player is Australia’s sweetheart. When the Cummins family sat down for dinner with Brooke, you couldn’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy. Although Brittany is raging favourite in our market, Brooke has all the sentiment in the world behind her. In these times where everyone feels divided, Brooke and the Honey Badger getting together would only unite us all.

3 Votes – Cat

If you haven’t quite worked out from reading our coverage of this series of The Bachelor, we are big fans of Cat. Yes – she’s the villain. Yes – she’s on the show only to make a name for herself. Yes – she can come across as a real piece of work. But you know what makes her great? She owns it. The delight on her face when she saw Blair fighting with Romy over the eavesdropping incident, the fact she wasn’t ashamed to be known for selling nice things on Instagram and her impatience during the rose ceremony as to why she hadn’t been picked yet was totally on brand. When doing her piece to camera and saying “GAME ON MOLLS” about the Romy/Blair confrontation, it was the use of a classic Aussie saying that made it a standout 3 Vote performance for the Badgelor. May she be around for a little bit longer in this series, because it’s going to be boring without her.

The Bachelor Betting Market Update

Another quiet episode from Brittany, but she’s clearly the punters choice at $1.30.

A solid solo date effort from Sophie sees her move into $3.75, while sentimental favourite Brooke is at $5.

Cass is a sneaky outsider at $10.

As for the mean girls, Romy is now out to $51 (although, if you ask her she’d say that we’ve already paid out on her winning the series) and Cat is now out to $67, not that she’d care.

Meanwhile, Vanessa Sunshine has gone from $101 out to $251.00.
