Royal Randwick October 27th Preview

2019 Membership Handicap (1400m) - Race 1 12:55pm

There looks to be little speed in this race which should set the race up nicely for Royal Celebration who can record his second win. He ran within a length of The Autumn Sun back in May and this race looks perfectly suited.

The Schweppes Handicap (1400m) - Race 2 1:30pm

Our Malambo looks well in at the weights here and will get a lovely run just in behind a quick tempo. She appeals at her current quote.

Tarabai drops back in grade after finishing out of the places in the Tibbie at Newcastle. Before that she was competitive and I think she is ready to peak for a race like this one over the 1400m.

Highway Handicap (1400m) - Race 3 2:05pm

Peak Hill was not beaten far in the Lismore Cup before winning at Toowoomba over 1875m. Happy to have something on at good each way odds.

Miss Mumazara is another at very backable odds. You know she will run the distance right out and is worth a punt.

Filante Handicap (1400m) - Race 4 2:40pm

The best of the day comes in the fourth race where Just Dreaming looks very well placed. She went very hard in front first up and set it up for the swoopers but she fought on well for third.

She can sit just in behind Fabrizio and peel out and finish over the top.

La Boheme Pinot Noir Rose Handicap (1800m) - Race 5 3:15pm

Zourkhan looks the one to beat here however he has to rise a kilo on his last start win and i can’t back him at his current price.

Naval Warfare is going better than his finishing positions suggest. He has been freshened up for this and can run a cheeky race at odds.

Chandon S Sprint (1000m) - Race 6 3:50pm

The 1000m around Randwick is set up for those on the pace in my opinion and this race will be no different so long as they don’t go super quick.

Sedition looks well placed to run well first up here. He has had a barrier trial leading in and will be right on the speed over the short distance.

I see the main danger being Brook Magic who has also had a nice trial leading into this first up assignment. She has a great record over the 1000m and will be handy in the run.

Group 1 Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes (1400m) - Race 7 4:35pm

Mercurial Lad gets in well at the weights for this and is way over the odds. Christian Reith can save a lot of ground from barrier one and should give him a gun run just off the speed.

Metamorphic will be suited by a hot tempo here and should be finishing the race off strongly.

Heineken 3 Handicap (2000m) - Race 8 5:20pm

Drochaid has to carry the big weight here but he should benefit from the step up in distance at this stage in his prep. He has been showing a good turn of foot at the end of his races and is over the odds.

It does not look like there is much speed in the race which will not suit Raqeeq however he has drawn well and if he can be a bit more handy in the run, the $10 appeals.

Spring Racing Handicap (1200m) - Race 9 6:00pm

Kawaikini from the Jason Coyle stable can run a race first up. She is a very consistent race mare who will get a nice ride from barrier 5. The rail is out at Randwick so saving ground on the inside will be beneficial, something Kathy O’Hara loves to do in her races.

Powerline was very good at Doomben last start and he should have won. This is a step down in class and appeals at the double figure odds. He also handles the sting out of the ground.
