The Bachelorette – Waiting For GoggleBox

The Bachelorette – Waiting For GoggleBox

Let’s not kid ourselves, with all the entertaining ones gone from the show and not much enthusiasm for Ali finding her true love in this series of The Bachelorette it’s becoming a bit of a grind.

However, the votes must go on.

Last night Ali finally went on a date with our market leader Taite and it was obvious why he’s the favourite. The two were so smitten with each other.  After that, all of the lads were subject to a job interview from Ali’s friends and old mate Charlie still thinks everyone that’s not him has bad intentions and is obsessed with Bill. We think he secretly loves him.

In the job interviews, Robert came across as intense while most viewers thought he was actually the adult in the room. Can’t be having that on The Bachelorette!

Ali then sent the two remaining nice guys Danny and Pete home with both getting some of the best friend zoning/”it’s not you, it’s me” treatment ever witnessed on Australian television.

The Jarrod Votes

For The Bachelor, we had The Badgelor award, and for this season of The Bachelorette, we have named our award ‘The Jarrod’ in honour of everybody’s favourite pot-plant detective Jarrod Woodgate!

The winner of ‘The Jarrod’ will not be the person that wins the heart of Ali, but the person that gives the Ladbrokes Content team the best fodder to work with!

Honourable Mention – Danny

Softly spoken and sweet-natured Danny got sent home by Ali with some special one on one time during a rose ceremony. He took his epic friend zoning well. He will also be remembered for going the blatant pash a couple of weeks back which made for wonderfully awkward television. However, with his Mr. Nice Guy attitude and being a little bit shy he was never going to last.

1 Vote – Bill

I’ve decided to give Bill one vote because should Charlie be reading this, we know it would infuriate him and we can expect a phone call, e-mail or him arriving at Ladbrokes HQ wanting to know why we gave Bill a vote instead of him. Basically, we’re giving this vote to Bill to give Charlie the shits.

2 Votes – Osher

Osher did an outstanding job last night cementing both his and Ali’s authority on the show and is worthy of getting some Jarrod votes for that effort. The man has come a long way from being Australian Idol/Channel V’s Andrew G.

3 Votes – Gogglebox

What’s the best thing about the Thursday night edition of The Bachelorette? Gogglebox comes on after! Yes, after what is now a draining hour of people trying to find love on reality TV, Gogglebox comes on after when we can watch other people bag out other TV shows. The concept of the show seemed strange to begin with but it’s a surefire hit. Last night’s episode when they watched Extreme Cheapskates on Foxtel’s TLC channel in where a woman contacts the family of the recently deceased clothes was something that was straight out of the George Costanza playbook. Therefore, Gogglebox gets the three votes.

The Jarrod Leaderboard After Episode 5

BEST QUOTES:

“WHY ARE YOU STILL SINGLE?” – Bianca (Ali’s friend) in every job interview.

“Has she learnt the lessons she needs to learn from her past relationships? Is she ready for this? Has she done the work?” – Robert stuffs up his job interview by asking perfectly reasonable questions.

“I felt like I needed to cleanse myself of him, actually.” – Jess (Ali’s friend) after meeting Robert.

TWEETS OF THE NIGHT:

THE BACHELORETTE BETTING UPDATE:

As of 10am AESDT – Taite is at shorter odds to win Ali’s heart than Winx is to win the Ladbrokes Cox Plate.

Taite is currently $1.20 to win The Bachelorette and Winx is $1.22 to win the Ladbrokes Cox Plate.

Charlie has drifted out to the long odds of $8, Todd is now at $9 and Bill a solid $10.

Robert’s unimpressive job interview has seen him go from $12 out to $21 in our market.

And Paddy, who remains on the show for pure comic value is a $101 chanc to win.
