As Victorians brace themselves to head to the polls, Ladbrokes punters expect Daniel Andrews and Labor to be re-elected for a second term of government at the upcoming State Election on Saturday, November 24th with the ALP opening as favorites at $1.40.
Matthew Guy and the Liberal/National Coalition are at $2.75 to cause what would be, according to the polls and our market, an upset on Election Day.
While some recent state and federal elections have had hung parliaments short in betting, our market suggests that it will be a majority government that wins the day with the Coalition or Labor to win a Majority Government at $1.50 and the Coalition or Labor NOT to win a Majority Government at $2.50
The critical sandbelt/bayside seats that will have a big say on who will win government on November 24th are expected to go Labor’s way and they have opened as favorites to win Mordialloc ($1.40) and Frankston ($1.83).
Punters are split on Carrum and Bentleigh, with both Labor and the Coalition opening at $1.87 each.
The Greens have become a force in Melbourne’s inner-city in recent times and the minor party are favorites to retain their seats of Melbourne, Prahran and Northcote and face a tight contest in Brunswick.
In the seat of Richmond, which includes hipster ghettos of Fitzroy, Abbotsford and Collingwood, Labor’s planning minister and high-profile local member Richard Wynne is favorite to retain his seat at $1.50, while the Greens have opened at $2.70.
There’s also a three-way contest in the seat of Prahran with the Greens favorite to retain the seat at $2.25 with the Liberal Party at $2.50 and Labor $3.50.
