Elusive Melody didn’t have any luck in running at all last start at Donald and was still able to find the line strongly to finish second. She maps to get a much kinder run in transit from barrier three and I like the fact that Henry Dwyer has kept her at 1000 metres. This is her chance to record a maiden race win.
All Too Royal returned to the races with an impressive win at Echuca and this race isn’t much tougher. The 1000 metres definitely seemed to suit and a repeat of that effort would make him very tough to beat. He will get a lovely run just behind the leaders and he will be well-placed to finish over the top of his rivals late.
The Ladbrokes Peninsula Cup has only drawn a small field, but there is plenty of talent. Royal Ace returned to winning form with a strong effort at Moe last start and he has been racing strongly in tougher company than this. He maps to get the run of the race with Ben Allen in the saddle and he can win again.
Think Babe returned to the races with a credible performance at Warrnambool and he will take improvement from that performance. He doesn’t win out of turn, but this really does look like a very winnable race and he can cap off what should be a big day for Darren Weir.
