I think we have a false favourite in the first and I have looked elsewhere for a winner. Toffee Drop’s was beaten over three lengths last time out however the run was better than it looks. The leader kicked away and had every horse off the bit and she battled home well. She will appreciate the step up in distance and has drawn well.
One For Betty has had the one run in town at Doomben however I don’t want to be taking even money for a horse that was beaten over six lengths last start so I’ve looked elsewhere again. Fille Gris has been unlucky not to have broken her maiden status thus far in her career and represents good value to start her career up north with a win.
That’s Madness was ultra impressive when she won her maiden back in June. Having been checked badly at a crucial stage, she picked herself back up and found the line nicely. She gets in well at the weights here and with a bit of luck from the barrier, she should be right in the finish.
Peak Hill went into town at Randwick last start and although wasn’t quite up to it that day, he put in a solid performance. He will appreciate the step up in distance and should get a lovely run in transit from barrier 3.
