Yogi will finally get a chance over 3200 metres in the Ladbrokes Sandown Cup. He had excuses in both the Geelong Cup and the Lexus Stakes and his run before that in The Bart Cummings was excellent. He has always given the impression that he will relish this trip and this is his chance to return to winning form.
Fifty Stars returned to winning form with an excellent win at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day and he is a horse that still has plenty of upside. He maps to get a lovely run just behind the speed with Ben Allen in the saddle and he has the turn-of-foot required to finish over the top of his Sandown Stakes rivals late.
Ringerdingding showed an electric turn-of-foot to win at Flemington last Saturday and he is a horse that still has the upside to improve. The step-up to a mile for the Ladbrokes Sandown Guineas suits as does the long Ladbrokes Park straight. He is well-placed to make it back-to-back wins.
The Taj Mahal won the Zipping Classic in dominant fashion 12 months ago and he has been racing better than his bare form suggests after having no luck in either the Caulfield Cup or the Moonee Valley Gold Cup. Ben Melham can take him straight to the front in the early stages of this contest and he will give his rivals something to catch.
