Barachiel returned to the races with a smart effort at Rockhampton and he still has the scope to improve on that performance. He has won second-up in the past and he has recorded two wins and three placings from his six previous starts over 1050 metres. The $8 currently available is well and truly over the odds.
Bold Shot could not have been more impressive at Rockhampton last start and he has trialled nicely between race starts. He has now recorded five wins from his nine race starts at Rockhampton and there is no doubt that he has a class edge over the rest of this field. He is extremely well-placed to make it two wins on the trot.
Escebee may be eight-year-olds, but he has recorded two wins on the trot and there is an argument to be made that he is racing in career best form. He has an excellent record over 1000 metres and there really is no reason that he can’t make it three wins on the trot in what is far from the strongest race.
Westlink raced well during his Autumn campaign and if he can return to the races in that sort of form, he will prove vert tough to beat. He has raced well over this track and distance in the past and he maps to get a lovely run in transit with Andrew Banks in the saddle.
