Winning Partner finished second in the Eureka Stockade at Ballarat during the Spring Racing Carnival and he was not disgraced when he was beaten as favourite at Morphettville first-up. He should take good benefit from that run and the form coming out of that race has been very strong.
Fanciful Toff was very well-backed when he returned to the races at Pakenham last start and he was only narrowly denied after having no luck in running whatsoever. There has already been another winner to come out of that race and he maps to get a dream run in transit with Liam Riordan in the saddle. I would be surprised if the $4.80 currently available lasts until race time.
Taikomochi has not been seen at the races for a while, but his three barrier trial wins ahead of his return to the races suggests that he is in excellent condition. He got out to 1900 metres during his most recent racing campaign, but the mile is probably his best trip and his first-up record is strong. $12 is well and truly over the odds.
Rock has only had the three race starts. but he does look like a serious talent. He had no luck in running when he stormed home to finish second behind Terminology in the Magic Millions Miaden and he was able to record a maiden race win at Canterbury last start. The Pierro gelding still has the scope to improve on that performance and I think he could end up in stronger races than this one.
