Aussie chased home the promising Dawn Passage at Randwick on debut and he was not beaten far behind I Am Immortal in the Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield. That sort of form does give him an edge on the rest of this field and he is a horse that makes his own luck right on the speed.
Galina has been a very frustrating horse for punters, but today could be the day that he can finally record a race win. He was not disgraced when he finished fifth behind Terminology in the Magic Millions Maiden Plate and the form coming out of that field has been very strong. He maps to get a lovely run in transit and he may never have a better chance to record a maiden race win.
Home Made is a horse with more talent than his current record suggests. He missed the start first-up at Kembla Grange and that cost him any chance of victory, but he was still able to find the line nicely in the concluding stages of the race. He finds himself in a weak contest this afternoon and he has the upside to spring a surprise.
I am happy to forgive Leatherhead for his last start flop at Hawkesbury. That race really wasn’t run to suit and his best form before that is clearly superior to that. He should take good benefit from that performance and if he is able to return to the form that he showed during the Spring, he will be tough to beat.
