Sir Owen has always been a horse with plenty of ability and he returned to the races as a gelding with a tough second at Gosford last start. This race really isn’t much tougher and he maps to get an ideal run in transit with Blake Shinn in the saddle. This is his chance to record a maiden race victory.
Pindus has been a frustrating horse for punters during his racing career to date, but I am willing to give him one more opportunity to breakthrough for a maiden race win. He has been producing quality performances without actually getting the job done, but on exposed form he does have an edge over the rest of this field.
Kanavu returned to the races with a narrow defeat at Gosford and he should take good improvement from that performance. He won’t have to get as far back in transit from barrier seven with Glyn Schofield in the saddle and he has the turn-of-foot required to finish over the top of his rivals.
China Gale won over this track and distance first-up last campaign and he is well-placed to make a winning return to the races this afternoon. He is the horse that should get the best run in transit from the positive barrier draw and it is no surprise that there has been a strong betting move for him early.
