Kylease has been freshened-up since she recorded a dominant win over Sir Owen at Gosford last start and the form coming out of that race has been strong. I like the fact that trainer Joe Pride has given her a barrier trial between race starts and she makes her own luck right on the speed. There is no reason she can’t make it two wins on the trot.
Wagner was not disgraced at Group level during the Spring Racing Carnival and James Cummings has found a lovely race to kick him off in. He won a barrier trial at Royal Randwick in impressive fashion and he really does look to have more upside than the rest of this field. It would not surprise to see him end up in better races than this one.
The August returned to the races with a credible effort at Canterbury last start and he should take good improvement from that performance. He wasn’t disgraced at Group 1 level in the Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas during the Spring Racing Carnival and the move to the Chris Waller stable should only benefit him.
Animalia handled the return to City Company nicely at Randwick last start and he finished a gallant second behind Cisco Bay. He will get a long way back in the run from the wide barrier draw, but the step-up in trip to 1800 metres is ideal for him and he is good value to storm home late for an impressive win.
