PUNTERS PAL
While the early money had trended toward the Broncos, a significant late push back to the Storm saw the 2018 runners-up start with a heavyweight of money on their side. With Melbourne continuing its run of wins against the Broncos, the punters were celebrating after the season opener.
BOOKIE’S BEST
The reigning premiers were expected to start the season as they had finished the last and punters had dug deep backing that to happen but, with Souths getting the better of the Roosters, the Bunnies got one back for the bookies.
On Sunday afternoon, punters were more than a little bullish about the Panthers winning at home against the Eels, to the extent money was running 5:1 in favour of Penrith. By late afternoon, punters and Panthers alike were licking their wounds.
TRY HARDER
It was a rough start to the season for 1st try-scorer punters with a host of players at long odds crossing first. One who was around the mark, and well found, was Ken Maumalo from the Warriors at $10.
Others to salute with very little money behind them were:
Jahrome Hughes (Storm) @$13
Tim Glasby (Knights) @ $51
Cameron Murray (South Sydney) @ $34
Robbie Farah (Tigers) @ $34
Marata Niukore (Eels) @ $34
Iosia Soliola (Raiders) @ $41
MULTI MAGIC
It wasn’t an easy round to nail but one Ladbrokes punters didn’t have any trouble, getting all eight winners in a multi. His $10 investment yielding $2033.93.
