This is an open edition of the Doncaster Prelude and it is Siege Of Quebec that appeals at his current price of $5. He wasn’t beaten far when he returned to the races in the Newcastle Newmarket Handicap and he is a horse that rarely goes backwards second-up. His record at Rosehill Gardens is strong and on his best form he will be right in this contest.
Madison County was scratched from the Rosehill Guineas last week due to a minor issue, but trainer Murray Baker is confident that he is fit for the Tulloch Stakes. He won both the 2000 Guineas and the Levin Classic in New Zealand and his Australian racing debut in the Royal Randwick Guineas was more than credible.
Star Of The Seas is as consistent as they come and he is still yet to miss the placings in his seven race starts. He handled a heavy track with no issues at Rosehill Gardens last start and a repeat of that effort would make him very tough to beat in this contest. The wide barrier draw might just prove to be an advantage at this stage of the afternoon.
Nakeeta Jane has put together an excellent record and she is well and truly over the odds to win the Vinery Stud Stakes. Her wins in the Light Fingers Stakes and Surround Stakes were both excellent, while she was not disgraced when third behind The Autumn Sun and Fundamentalist in the Royal Randwick Guineas. She maps to get a lovely run in transit and it would surprise if she was not in the finish.
