On This Day in Sports May 26th

On This Day: May 30

They say we should use this time to learn something new – so we thought we’d offer up a history lesson free of charge!

We’re going to be recapping all the important sporting moments each and every day as we look to fill the void our beloved sports have left behind.

So if it’s AFL, NRL, Basketball, Cricket, Golf or even Wrestling, be sure to return each morning as we take a trip back through the history books to relive some of the great sporting moments On This Day.

2009 – Fantastic Frank

Chelsea defeated Everton 2-1 on this day 11 years ago to claim their seventh FA Cup.

The win was made extra special when Frank Lampard slotted this outstanding goal in the 72nd minute to put the game to bed!

2009 – A Royal Thumping

Also on this day in 2009 came the Chiefs 61-17 walloping over the Bulls in the Super Rugby Final.

Morne Stern was the highlight kicking five conversions and two penalties, but really, if you’re a Bulls fan, this is probably a day you’ve wiped clean from your memory.

2015 – Cooking with Gas

We don’t like to celebrate anything to do with the English cricket team, but we do have to take our hats off to Alastair Cook, who became England’s all-time leading run-scorer on this day in 2015!
