So if it’s AFL, NRL, Basketball, Cricket, Golf or even Wrestling, be sure to return each morning as we take a trip back through the history books to relive some of the great sporting moments On This Day.
2016 – One for the Joker
With wins already at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, the French Open remained the only Grand Slam title eluding Novak Djokovic heading into 2016.
After defeating Dominic Thiem in the Semi’s, the Joker made it all the way through to the final against Andy Murray where he eventually won in the fourth set.
Djokovic has struggled at Roland Garros ever since.
2016 – Sharks v Penguins
Games 1, 2 and 3 of the 2016 Stanley Cup Final between the Sharks and the Penguins were absolutely fantastic.
After the Pens won Game 2 in overtime to grab a 2-0 series lead, the Sharks got one back in San Jose two days later with a 3-2 win in overtime themselves.
Even so, it apparently wasn’t exciting enough for this group of “hardcore” Sharks fans.
