We’re going to be recapping all the important sporting moments each and every day as we look to fill the void our beloved sports have left behind.
So if it’s AFL, NRL, Basketball, Cricket, Golf or even Wrestling, be sure to return each morning as we take a trip back through the history books to relive some of the great sporting moments On This Day.
2001 – The Shaq Attack
Trailing the Sixers 1-0 in the Finals, the Lakers fought back HARD on this day in 2001 thanks to a spirited performance by none other than Shaquille O’Neal.
Shaq put up 28-points, 20 rebounds, nine assists and eight blocks – falling just short of a quadruple-double.
The Lakers won the game comfortably 98-89 before securing the title in Game 5 with another blowout victory.
2019 – The 12th Man
Rafael Nadal made history this time last year at Roland Garros where he won his 12th French Open title in a four-set slug-fest against Dominic Thiem.
Not only did the win mark Nadal’s third consecutive French Open victory, he also became the first player to win 12 singles titles at the same Grand Slam.
